From July 19 to 22, the summer school in School of Life Sciences at Lanzhou University was held in Yifu Biology Building.

Twenty-four students from Northeast Normal University, Gansu Agricultural University, Henan University, Henan Normal University, Nanchang University, Inner Mongolia Normal University, Ningxia University, Qinghai University, Qufu Normal University, Shihezi University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Sichuan Normal University, Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University, Northwest Normal University, Southwest University, Tibet University and Xinjiang University have attended the Summer School of 2018.

Professor Suiwen Hou, Vice Dean of School of Life Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony of the summer school. Professor Jia Li, Dean of School of Life Sciences, addressed a warmly welcome speech to the students. Professor Haoli Zhang， Director of General Management Department of Graduate School at Lanzhou University, attended the meeting and introduced the overall enrollment process of Graduate School and related policies at Lanzhou University. Heads of subjects, teacher representatives, student representatives and summer school students attended the ceremony.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Suiwen Hou, Professor Xiaoping Gou, Professor Sha Xiao, Professor Changming Zhao, Professor Qiang Chen, Professor Xiangkai Li, Professor Jianlin Wang, Professor Shengxiang Zhang, Professor Yongxing He, Professor Changjun Lin and Professor Mingyu Wang gave academic presentations to the audience. Their talks introduced the recent graduate studies and progresses in various fields in School of Life Sciences, and led the students to fully understand the latest academic research of School of Life Sciences, encouraging the students to further explore in life sciences. The academic reports have received warm responses from the students. After the meeting, all the participants visited the National Key Laboratory of Grassland Agricultural Ecosystem, Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Cell Activities and Stress Adaptions, and Experimental Center of School of Life Sciences, accompanied and introduced by Professor Wan Dongshi, Professor Xiao Sa and Ms Guan Liping, the Deputy Director of Experimental Center.

During the Summer School of 2018, the students from the universities nationwide have had the opportunities to know deeply about School of Life Sciences at Lanzhou University through academic communications, policy meeting, and visting with the facilities and faculties, which dramatically promoted the communications and mutual understanding between other universities and Lanzhou University. The excellent summer school attendees will have priority to being admitted to the graduate programs in School of Life Sciences at Lanzhou University.
